The Courtyard Playhouse is Dubai's first dedicated, KHDA-licensed improv and comedy theatre, founded in 2013 by Kemsley Dickinson and Tiffany Schultz.[24, 25] What began in 2008 as the Desert Monologues Acting Workshop evolved into a vibrant cultural institution.[26, 24] Located in Al Quoz, the Playhouse is internationally recognized for applying Keith Johnstone's improvisation techniques.[24] It offers spontaneous, unscripted theatrical performances and comprehensive acting workshops, successfully democratizing access to the performing arts in the UAE.[26, 24]
